When the music started, all the attention was given to the function room door, followed by the pop-up of rapper Nelson. “Create with passion; Unite to succeed. Through services we’ll lead…” The inaugural ceremony was unveiled by the theme song of 2021. The full-suited President Michael Lee marched in with Secretary Sam Cheung and Treasurer Jason Chu and kicked off the event with the team’s full energy echo and a round of applause.
Seeing the current pandemic situation, JCI Dragon chose the health and safety of the valuable guests as their priority and hence decided to arrange the majority of the audience to witness the ceremony through the online channel instead of traditional pomp and pageantry. But it did not undermine the splendor of the Dragon legions. The oath-taking process was stunning and charming as usual.
In a 6-minute inaugural address that sought to bring new insights to the chapter in such a challenging era, President Michael called on Dragon to be resilient. “JCI Dragon has come to the forty-first (41st) years old. “Forty-plus one” is a very good description to describe my year of presidency,” Michael said in his speech, moments after he installed the memberships for Dragon’s new joiners. “To me, creativity means that while you are keeping your valuable existing assets, we add in something new to make it even better.”
“Under the JCI RISE platform, JCI Dragon will do our best to in terms of BUSINESS RECOVERY, EMPOWERING WORKFORCE, and soothing MENTAL HEALTH IMPACTS in our community.” As an affiliated chapter of JCI Hong Kong, and as a member of Junior Chamber International, JCI Dragon committed to JCI RISE with three flagship projects – “Dragon Apprentice: Shadow Your Idol”, “Dragon Job Fair” and “Youth ReLift: Generation ADHD”.
Looking back at the previous 40 years, JCI Dragon showed its ability to break through. It has great flexibility in navigating the difficult times it faces. Although coronavirus is perhaps at the biggest challenge, Dragon is still showing its vitality and live as a role model of empowered leaders.
“…we could pay it forward, to empower more people around us. Support us, support each other. Create with Passion! Unite to Succeed!” Michael believed that JCI Dragon shall reach a new height in 2021.
